Well, they've signed a deal with EA (inc. DICE, Visceral and BioWare) to create future games.

Today it was announced that Lucasfilm Ltd. and Disney Interactive are entering into a multi-year, multi-title exclusive licensing agreement with Electronic Arts Inc. (EA) for the creation of new high quality Star Wars games aimed at the core gaming audience and spanning multiple genres for console, PC, mobile, and tablets.

Industry leaders and creators of best-in-class blockbuster games, the development and publishing teams at EA will collaborate with the creative teams at Lucasfilm to provide audiences with all-new gaming experiences set in the ever-expanding Star Wars galaxy. As part of the agreement, EA studio teams DICE (Battlefield series) and Visceral (Dead Space series) will join BioWare (Mass Effect series, Star Wars: The Old Republic) in the development of new Star Wars games.

"Our number one objective was to find a developer who could consistently deliver our fans great Star Wars games for years to come," said Kathleen Kennedy, president of Lucasfilm. "When we looked at the talent of the teams that EA was committing to our games and the quality of their vision for Star Wars, the choice was clear."

While EA studios will develop for the core Star Wars gaming audience, Disney Interactive will focus on delivering new Star Wars games for casual audiences on mobile, social, tablet, and online gaming platforms.

"This agreement demonstrates our commitment to creating quality game experiences that drive the popularity of the Star Wars franchise for years to come," said John Pleasants, co-president of Disney Interactive. "Collaborating with one of the world's premier game developers will allow us to bring an amazing portfolio of new Star Wars titles to fans around the world."

"Every developer dreams of creating games for the Star Wars universe," said EA Labels President Frank Gibeau. "Three of our top studios will fulfill that dream, crafting epic adventures for Star Wars fans. The new experiences we create may borrow from films, but the games will be entirely original with all new stories and gameplay."

Loved Mass Effect and Dragon Age, so I think that BioWare being involved can only be a good thing.

Yes that are good new I hope.

If EA did not plan to build a sim city or sims game i hope the future game's will be great. Bioware did two grewt games with old republic serie. EA must keep the online registration at home and you can have fun to play. Cool

Did someone see this Star Wars 7 teaser ?

The atmosphere could be good but what the f... is this Laser sword or the new stormtrooper helmets looking for? Motorcycle helmets and jedi/sith scobitoare. The Melenium Falcon have a new antenna, if I saw this right this antenna is a sqare one and not round, this kills the Falcon character. Oh... and this droid... a football with a head? This looks like the glas balls to watch dinosaurs in Jurassic World. O.o

Keal maybe there is a new slave Leia in her slave outfit, this planet looks like Tatooine. Jabba was killed but the Hut family is alive... there will be a new hope. Razz

The trailer looks horrendous...
What's the deal with the new style of lightsaber? Flaming hilt guards? Rolling astromechs? Black stormtroopers?
Even the CG (which was already a bad move in episodes 1-3) looks astoundingly amateur...

If Walt wasn't still frozen in carbonite I would swear he had a hand in this blasphemy.

I hope everyone have seen the new theaser ... if not here it is.

The theaser is good, but I have a problem with it...

I was interestet into what was going on with Luke, Han and the others after Episode VI a long time before Episode VII starts. I've bought some books and use google to find out more. I found one of the largest Star Wars wiki called wookipedia (in german it is called jedipedia). I think some of you guys know this wiki. It was impossible for me to buy and read all books for this timeline, but there will be a very good shortcut to all characters and a very good timeline. link to the timeline

You can read a BBY and a ABY for before and after the battle of Yavin and the destruction of the first Deathstar.

The Battle of Endor at was 4 ABY. We all know this movie and all characters are looking young. The Episode VII will be about 30 years after this battle and yes they looks a litle bit older as on Episode VI.

How I can see Chewbacca on the theaser when he was killed some years before? ... ok he could be a clone like the 2. Emperor Palpatine, but this is frightening me. Do you know how much time it will cost that Chewbaccas hair go over to this length?

It looks like J.J. Abrams build a paralell timeline like into Star Trek for me and this sucks. What do you think?

In effect, yes it is a parallel timeline. The Expanded Universe (now Star Wars Legends) (everything other than the six movies basically) has always technically not been part of the official timeline, but up until now it has not been a problem. Disney has said that everything released from now on will be part of the official timeline.
